Cyprus enjoys an ideal combination of year-round warmth and sunshine. Summer lasts from May to September, with blue skies and an average of 11 hours of sunshine a day. Away from the coastal or mountain areas, mid-day temperatures can be high, cooling off in the mornings and evenings. It almost never rains during the summer months.
Autumn, from around October to December, is the favourite time of year for many people, with days that are still warm enough to enjoy beaches and swimming pools, and cool nights. The short and moderate rainy season usually begins sometime in December and lasts through January. This short winter is almost the only time the skies are grey, since Cyprus enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, with temperatures averaging around 60F (15C).
Springtime, from February through April, brings magic to the island, with wild flowers and grassy meadows covering the landscape. Daytime temperatures usually average around 75F (24C), while the nights are cool. By April, it starts to warm up with the approaching summer season. April and May are the ideal months to enjoy the many natural beauties of Cyprus.
